Azure Estate stands shoulder to shoulder with Sea Foam Manor on New Jersey Avenue, a grand stone-front Victorian with stacked double porches and seven bedrooms. It is the companion house, the family-reunion house, the one with a clawfoot tub down the hall and a different color in every room.

Some houses are renovated until every trace of their history is sanded away. Azure Estate was not. Behind its tan stone front and sky-blue porch ceilings you will find clawfoot tubs, antique dressers and color-painted bedrooms that feel like a beloved shore home handed down through the family. That is the whole point.

It is roomy, lived-in and unfussy, the kind of house where the cousins claim the bunk room, the grandparents take the porch, and everyone meets in a kitchen big enough to cook for a crowd. A block from the beach, and built for the long, slow week.

Seven bedrooms and four full baths sleep eighteen, with a living room around a white-brick fireplace, a formal dining room, a separate breakfast nook, and a big eat-in kitchen with two refrigerators. Rent it on its own, or pair it with Sea Foam Manor next door to host as many as thirty-six under two roofs.

Every bedroom has its own character: a teal seashell room, a navy nautical room with twin beds, a lavender room with an antique dresser, a yellow kids' room and a green room with bunk beds. Made for sandy, sun-tired sleep.

Historic Cape May

One block from the oldest seaside resort in America.

Cape May is a National Historic Landmark with one of the largest collections of Victorian architecture in the country: more than 600 gingerbread homes, wide porches and gas-lamp streets. Azure Estate sits right in it, a block from the sand.

Walk to the beach and the oceanfront Promenade, the Washington Street Mall, the Emlen Physick Estate and the Cape May Lighthouse, then come home to the porch. With Sea Foam Manor next door, it is the rare spot that can hold an entire extended family on a single block.
